Saturday, 15 August 2020, the 74th Independence Day that came with pride and emotional news for the country, especially for the cricket lovers. MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina announce retirement from International Cricket. The news spread like fire and shocked the whole country. It is the end of an era.

At 9:20 PM it was officially declared by the BCCI and just a few minutes after that Suresh Raina also confirmed his retirement from the international cricket. The good news is that they will keep playing in IPL.

MS Dhoni needs no recognition for his achievements as he is the only captain in the history of cricket to win all the ICC trophies including the world cup trophy of 2011. Dhoni began his journey of International cricket in 2004 and since then it was always a pleasure watching him playing and winning for India. 16 years of true entertainment and fun.

Jay Shah, the honorary secretary of BCCI said, “MS Dhoni is one of the greats of the modern era. I understand it’s a personal decision and we respect that. ‘Mahi’ as we all fondly refer to him, has had an exceptional career in international cricket. His captaincy has been both inspiring and commendable. He is leaving the game richer from the time he joined. I wish him all the very best for IPL and his future endeavors.”

Suresh Raina, on the other hand, started his journey of International cricket in the year 2005. In the beginning, it was a bit difficult for him to set his feet on the ground but as time passes he showed his true potential to the world. He not only set himself as one of the best fielders in the world but also as one of the best all-rounders in the world. On his entire career, he played all his matches with sincerity and respect followed by a true sportsman spirit. The man was also part of the 2011 world cup tea, and will always be remembered for his tremendous contribution to the cricket.
