England cricket team’s Jofra Archer speaks up about the injury he sustained during the ICC Cricket World Cup that concluded on July 14, 2019, at the Lords in London. They ended 27 years of wait to win their maiden World Cup and they received their victorious glory on the final match.

Archer revealed that he was in excruciating pain because of his side injury. He sustained it during the match against Afghanistan, which required him to take painkillers so that he can make it through the finals. Despite the pain he bears, Archer contributed greatly to the team by bringing out his best performance in the semi-final match against Australia at Edgbaston.

The all-rounder said that he depends on the painkillers because without it, he will not be able to play in the match. It helped him since the match against Afghanistan until the finals. Since the matches were just close, he couldn’t get enough rest and recover.

During the post World Cup, Archer finally got his time to recover. He went back home to Barbados to spend a holiday but he returned for Sussex in the T20 Blast match. Recently, he received a tipped for the Ashes against Australia but he may sit out for the first Test.

According to the team’s coach, Trevor Bayliss, they didn’t want to risk Archer for the first match. “He played for Sussex in a T20 match and came through that well. Test match cricket, five days, longer spells, is a little bit of a different beast so we’ll have to see where he’s at and take a little bit from the medical people as well … We’ve got a good strong group of bowlers who we think can do the job over the five Tests.”

Jofra Archer’s international cricket career began when made his One Day Internationals debut against Ireland in May 2019. Then he made his Twenty20 International debut for England against Pakistan, two days after his ODI debut. He got the chance to represent the country in the ICC World Cup 2019 where he ended the tournament with 13 runs.

The England Cricket Team is now set for their first Ashes Test tomorrow against Australia at Edgbaston.
