Running is the best activity for overall physical fitness because it is the quickest way to builds up the stamina and loses calories. One who practices it on a daily basis will understand it why it is the best exercise for your body like the Athlete. Everyone has a particular body structure and types so that running will result in different amount of calorie burn, fatigue level, stamina build up and more. Select the shoes and socks you are going to wear on the day of the marathon. Shoes should be of light weight and support your feet while running and socks should be like you wear in other races. If the shoes are new to your feet, then run 10 miles on marathon pathway to get comfortable with it.

Do a half marathon

Add speed to your longest run

Before 2-3 week of the marathon, practice running like if you have to run 8 miles then begin running one minute per mile slower than the goal and speed it up every 2 miles to run the last miles according to the goal set or slightly faster. Drink on the run

Practice the remaining long and semi-long runs with your energy gels or sports drinks which are intend to refuel with during the race.

Dress up well

Don't try to run in a cotton t-shirt, and you should run in running outfits that are easily available in sports outlets. These are made of nylon or Coolmax. Try it before a marathon and check that it's not irritating you.
