Healthy eating habits are good to keep us healthy & fit. Only eating well is not sufficient, what you eat and when you eat makes a big difference. Let's talk about the dinner. It is the evening meal or last meal of the entire day. Some cultures give importance to the breakfast whereas some cultures give importance to the dinner. Put these aspects aside, and how such straightforward and healthy habits can help you improving metabolism and more. Health experts recommend having dinner at least 2 hours before going to bed. There are many things you need to do or not do before or after the last meal:
Drink warm water
Drink a glass of lukewarm water at least 30 minutes before a meal to aid digestion. In fact, this glass of water will prevent overeating during dinner.
Don't drink too much of water after your meal, as it can impair digestion. You can drink 1 or 2 sips of water to help swallow the food. Drink slightly warm water after one & a half hour of dinner to break down the food in your stomach.
Don't sleep immediately after dinner
Many people are tempted to sleep after having dinner, but it can slow down the process of digestion. Go for the after 2 hours of the meal during this time you can have a short walk or prepare things for the next day.
Short walk
Take a short walk for 15 to 20 minutes after your meal, and it will improve your metabolism and help in digestion. You can enjoy a short walk, don't think to have 1-hour long walk, this way you will feel tired and will not attempt it next day.
Avoid heavy food or overeating
Avoid heavy food during dinner, eat healthy and light. Don't lose your belt to eat more, because overeating can upset your metabolism & stomach. So eat light & healthy so that it can digest quickly and you will feel good.
Do not smoke
Do not smoke after dinner, and smokers are tempted to have a cigarette immediately after dinner. It can cause heartburn by relaxing your lower esophageal sphincter. Smoking is harmful all the time because it contains 60 types of carcinogens that increase the risk of cancer and nicotine available in it can disrupt your sleep.
Say no to fruits
Don't eat fruits after last meal because sugar available in the fruits can interfere with your sleep cycle or you have to work harder to digest the fruits.
