It doesn't even matter that the rest of the population think that breeding birds at home means inviting diseases and bacteria generated through birds.

It is prominent to maintain a healthy environment for birds to live in, and not just make sure they are happy and safe but to make sure their humans are happy and safe as well. It is not enough that you feed your birds regularly while you need to keep the aviaries clean & disease-free.

Cleaning out your aviaries can be a challenging, tedious and time consuming task but it needs to be done as well. In this process, you need to plan a regular cleaning schedule and break down the tasks into small sections and complete it on daily, weekly or monthly basis to make it easy.

You can schedule the weekly cleaning plan like firstly, prefer to wash cage trays, scrub off the gate, clean and change perches and also clean and soak the toys to keep bacteria from breeding. Such cleaning process takes time so it’s good to have toys & perches in back-up to keep the birds busy.

For the monthly cleaning, you can schedule a general cage cleaning. But keep in mind that you use a good scrubber to scrub the cracks and help break down and remove all dirty substances. Whenever you do cleaning, always clean & dry the cage because moisture causes bacteria breeding.

Clean birds' food and water bowls on daily basis using detergent. It will prevent bacteria and keep the birds healthy and risk free. You should use mild detergent and warm water to disinfect your birds' food and water bowls.

Wipe down the cage's surface with a mixture of 2 tbs. vinegar and 1 qt. water for a thorough clean. Pour the mixture into a spray bottle and use it to clean once a week. Don’t use bleach and other type of toxic cleaning agents as if bird accidently inhale the fumes then it can be toxic for them.

These tips are helpful and ensure that your birds will live a healthy & long life. These cleaning processes will take less than half an hour to maintain healthy environment and keep them happy.
