4 Tips for Cleaning your Laptop

Are you wondering how to clean a laptop where you might have to use some liquid as well for better cleaning? Well most of the people get very concerned when it comes to using liquid upon very sensitive electronic stuff especially the laptop that carries so much like our photos, important document

Your laptop is one of the dirtiest places in your home. According to some reports, laptops and more specifically the keyboards attached to your laptop have more germs on it than toilet seat. What's the last thing you remember spending a few hours helping your fingers over Toilet seat?

So let’s delve in to learn how to defunkify your laptop.

Things to be used:

For this cleaning job you're going to need a microfiber cloth, we're going to be using a regular microfiber cloth for everything but the screen. For the screen, we will be using the flat microfiber cloth mild, dish soap, distilled water, compressed air, rubbing alcohol and pipe cleaner etc.

Some Do’s and Don’ts Before you Start Cleaning:

  • Do shut down and turn off the laptop completely
  • Be sure to unplug everything from all the ports before you get to cleaning
  • Do not spray any liquids directly on your computer, this even goes for the outside. Just spray your clock away from your computer and then clean.
  • Do read your user manual. There are usually care instructions in the manual and if you can't find it, just go online and look it up there. Frankly, who's going to know how to clean this better than its real manufacturers?
  • Do not remove your laptop keys unless you know what you are doing. It may be tempting but my suggestion would be to consult Google before crying off your keys seeing as how there are more than a few horror stories about not being able to get them back on and then you never have the letter I or Q or J back. So when the writing gets all messed up so do your research first and try to not take on your laptop keys.

Now let’s get to the Cleaning finally;

Distilled water and a drop of dish soap: Just dip the cloth into the solution and bring it out until it is damp dry. Make sure you use as little liquid as possible so it really brings out that cloth then just use the cloth to clean the exterior of the case on the laptop. Also, make sure that you don’t get any moisture into the opening.

Keyboards: let's tackle the keyboard. You should simply blast out as many crumbs as possible by using the compressed air. Then you can use that same dish soap and distilled water mixture if you like or you can also use rubbing alcohol as it’s just as effective as the dish soap on oily residue. All you need to do is lately dampen a cloth with straight rubbing alcohol or with the little bit that solution and carefully what the key is remembering to get the sides then you might find a dry corner and buff everything dry.

For the trackpad: You just need to use the dish soap and distilled water mixture. Again, wiping that wet and then buffing everything dry.

To the Screen: All you need is a soft lint-free microfiber cloth and that's it. You don't need any fancy screen cleaners also known as expensive. If there is something stubborn on your screen that can’t be removed by a dry cloth, a lightly dampen clock with only simple water should do the trick.
