Books you must read in your life

We all have heard of the saying “Reading is to mind what exercise is to body”. This quotation in itself spells the need to read a lot of books in one’s life. Reading exposes your thinking towards all the things that are happening in the world. Otherwise, man would turn into an island in himself. Reading not only shapes one’s opinion but also provides valuable inputs when one faces any problem in life. Reading is one of those typical habits that is easy to take up but very difficult to keep. A lot of people start reading but are often not able to continue it. I can assure you of one thing, once you take up this habit and start practicing diligently, it has the potential to change your life drastically. You will forever be grateful for this one thing in your life.

Great thinkers and philosophers admit they regret that they could read more books than what they have read when they were in their youth. I came across this epic quote by Mark Twain that goes like this- “A man who does not read books has no advantage over the man who cannot read them”. This quote has very precisely portrayed that if you are not reading then probably you are unable to read. Another reason why one should inculcate reading habits because some of the best advice is only available in print.

Books have so much knowledge and secrets to share that if one starts reading, he/she is drowned in the depth the book has to offer. An interesting book keeps you hooked. It is a separate world out there. When you are reading an autobiography or any book, it is like seeking their advice in person. Who would not like taking advice from Steve Jobs in business matters, Yuvraj Singh on how he fearlessly fought with cancer undeterred, Adolf Hitler, Helen Keller and the like.

After having said about why one should read, now let’s take a look at what one should read. In today’s world so much information is available for us to read. In such times we should select the ideal brain food that interests us and will contribute to our development. This obviously differs from person to person but there are some books that I feel each and every one must read! To mention some of the best books - The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho, The Fountainhead by Ayan Rand, Roots by Alex Hale, The leader who had no title by Robin Sharma, The Monk who sold his Ferrari by Robin Sharma, The power of your subconscious mind by Dr. Joseph Murphy,Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom, Pilgrimage by Paulo Coelho, Siddhartha by Hermann Hasse, Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill etc.
